1. Scope of Services
Flooring Masters Ltd. provides specialized flooring installation and subfloor preparation services throughout Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, and surrounding British Columbia communities. Our primary disciplines include:
- Hardwood flooring installation (engineered, solid, parquet).
- Luxury vinyl plank (LVP / SPC) and laminate installation.
- Commercial modular carpet tile and glue-down vinyl.
- Mechanical subfloor preparation (optical laser diagnostics, grinding, self-leveling pours, plywood underlayment).
- Baseboards, trim installation, old floor demolition, and jobsite clean-up.
2. Website Estimates vs. Binding Contracts
- Preliminary Nature of Quotes: Pricing calculators, starting square-foot rates (e.g., Hardwood from $3.00/sq.ft, Vinyl from $1.50/sq.ft, Laminate from $1.50/sq.ft), and online estimates provided through this website are purely informational baseline figures calculated for standard, level, dry installations.
- On-Site Laser Diagnostics: A binding project agreement is executed only after an on-site inspection utilizing optical laser levels and precision straightedges to determine subfloor condition, moisture levels, square footage, and perimeter detailing.
- Fixed-Price Contract Guarantee: Once an official written project contract is signed, the agreed project price is locked. Flooring Masters guarantees zero hidden fees and no unexpected charges for minor incidental tasks encountered during the contracted work scope.
3. Subfloor Diagnostics and Warranty Policy
- Mandatory Flatness Standard: Proper flooring performance and warranty compliance require an adequately flat, sound, and dry subfloor meeting manufacturer tolerance standards (typically 3/16″ over 10 feet).
- Separate Subfloor Prep Calculation: Required subfloor corrective procedures (grinding down humps, filling dips with self-leveling compounds, or installing structural plywood underlayment) are diagnosed optically on-site and calculated as an itemized scope item.
- Waiver of Sagging Warranty: If a client elects to decline subfloor leveling or corrective preparation deemed necessary and recommended by the master installer, Flooring Masters shall not be held liable for subsequent floor sagging, joint separation, creaking, dips, hollow sounds, or plank failure resulting from uneven foundation conditions.
4. Project Terms, Access & Customer Responsibilities
To ensure smooth and timely execution, clients agree to:
- Site Access & Utilities: Provide safe, uninterrupted access to the work area, along with functioning electrical power, adequate lighting, and active heating/HVAC maintained at standard living temperatures (18°C – 24°C) for material acclimatization.
- Heavy Furniture & Clearance: Clear all personal belongings, fragile items, electronics, and small furniture from work zones prior to installation start. Moving large, heavy furniture (sofas, wardrobes, heavy beds, appliances) on-site is an additional itemized service quoted separately.
- Material Procurement: Where materials are supplied by the client, the client is responsible for ensuring sufficient quantity (including recommended 10–15% waste allowance) and timely jobsite delivery.
5. Payment Terms and Milestones
Our payment policies are structured for mutual protection and transparency:
- Projects Under $5,000: Payable in full upon final walkthrough and client inspection of the completed installation.
- Projects Over $5,000: Billed according to a milestone schedule detailed in the written contract (e.g., material delivery/demolition, midpoint progress, final walkthrough).
- Invoicing: All payments are processed against official company invoices.
6. 5-Year Workmanship Warranty
Flooring Masters stands firmly behind the quality of its trade craftsmanship:
- Coverage: We provide a 5-Year Workmanship Warranty against installation defects, buckling, and seam separation under normal residential or commercial usage when installation standards have been followed.
- Full-Package Guarantee: When flooring materials and subfloor preparation are supplied and executed directly through Flooring Masters, warranty coverage encompasses both labor craftsmanship and material integration.
- Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damage resulting from external floods, plumbing leaks, structural building movement, intentional abuse, abnormal moisture infiltration from unsealed concrete without recommended vapor barriers, or failure to follow recommended maintenance guidelines.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on this website—including company branding, trade descriptions, project case studies (including Best Buy and Aritzia commercial projects), graphic assets, and photographic documentation of completed installations—is the exclusive proprietary property of Flooring Masters Ltd. and is protected by Canadian copyright and intellectual property laws. Unauthorized reproduction or commercial use is strictly prohibited.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable British Columbia law, Flooring Masters Ltd. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the use of this website or reliance on preliminary online price estimates prior to a signed written contract.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Service and any contractual agreements entered into with Flooring Masters Ltd. shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada.
